| The
Digital Communications Network (DCN) provides the communication
infrastructure for ground combat training systems. It the
radio-frequency link between the Exercise Control (EXCON)
center and the soldier/vehicle instrumentation, allowing real-time
monitoring of the players and mission control.
Components
include the main DCN computer, antenna masts, relay radios, player
units, and EXCON/AAR products such as PC-RIS,
and antennas. Antenna
mast variations range from fixed 100 meter towers to small transportable
units.
Cubic
has various digital communications designs with a range of
robust data protocols and operational frequencies in the VHF,
UHF and cellular bands. In all cases, Cubic's DCN equipment
is:
-
Highly dependable, both physically and in data throughput
-
Graceful coexistence with other battlefield communications
systems
-
Transparency to the warfighter in size, weight and power
demands
Cubic
DCNs currently in use include:
-
CMTC: 12 networks, approximately 1,000
instrumented players, 3 second reporting rate,
-
JRTC: Three networks, approximately 2,000
instrumented players, variable reporting rates,
-
AWES: Four networks, approximately 1,500
instrumented players, variable reporting rates
