Cubic wins $32.8 million recompete to continue
Navy flight and tactical instruction on East Coast

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – August 31, 2006 -- The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) has awarded the defense segment of Cubic Corporation (Amex: CUB) a new $32.8 million contract to provide instruction, simulator operation and curriculum support to the Naval Air Forces U.S. Atlantic Fleet.

The five-year contract continues Cubic’s strong presence at Naval Air Stations Oceana and Norfolk in Virginia, and Naval Air Stations Jacksonville and Mayport in Florida. It includes both flight and tactical instruction in the classroom and on simulators.

“With this new contract, Cubic will teach every tactical aircraft the Navy flies on the East Coast,” commented Harold Carlisle, director of Navy Programs for the Worldwide Technical Services Division, part of Cubic’s Mission Support Business Unit.

Cubic won the recompete as part of the Field Training Systems Support II Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (ID/IQ) contract that the company received last year. Cubic had previously delivered services to the Navy under an earlier five-year ID/IQ contract.

The new contract continues and expands Cubic’s business at NAS Oceana, where Cubic instructors currently assist Navy crews in learning to fly both the F/A-18 C/D Hornet and F/A-18 E/F Super Hornet.

At NAS Norfolk, Cubic will continue to provide instruction services for pilots of the E-2 Hawkeye radar aircraft, C-2 Gray Hound and the H-53 transport helicopter; and also for Naval Flight Officers for the E-2 Hawkeye radar aircraft, while adding a new helicopter platform, the SH-60 Sierra.

At Mayport, Cubic will continue to provide flight instruction for the SH-60 Bravo multipurpose helicopter, but will also branch out into developing and writing tactics for backseat personnel.

Cubic’s team at NAS Jacksonville will continue to teach crews how to fly the P-3 Orion surveillance aircraft, the S-3B Viking refueling and cargo aircraft, and the SH-60 Foxtrot carrier-based multipurpose helicopter.

The Worldwide Technical Services Division is part of the Mission Support Business Unit of Cubic Defense Applications (CDA), one of Cubic Corporation’s two major segments. CDA is a world leader in realistic combat training systems, mission support services and defense electronics. The corporation's other major segment, Cubic Transportation Systems, designs and manufactures automatic fare collection systems for public mass transit authorities.
