Cubic Defense Applications Achieves CMMI Capability Level 3 Milestone

SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- Cubic Defense Applications, Inc. (CDAI), the defense systems business of Cubic Corporation (NYSE: CUB), has achieved CMMI Capability Level 3, an important milestone in the company's continuous process improvement initiatives. Short for Capability Maturity Model Integration, CMMI is an international performance standard used to measure the maturity of a company's business processes.

CDAI accomplished this important goal on Dec. 19, 2008, after a two-week formal appraisal by the independent appraisal firm, Software Systems Quality Consulting (SSQC). The results of this appraisal demonstrate to both current and future customers and prime contractors that CDAI has well defined, mature development processes that meet an established, widely accepted industry standard for excellence. This accomplishment, in addition to the AS9100 certification that CDAI achieved in 2007, demonstrates the company's commitment to excellence by executing their business according to documented processes that comply with external standards that are recognized worldwide.

Cubic Defense Applications, Inc., is part of Cubic Corporation’s defense segment. Cubic is a world leader in realistic combat training systems, mission support services and defense electronics. The corporation's other major segment, Cubic Transportation Systems, designs and manufactures automatic fare collection systems for public mass transit authorities.
